Organic Homemade Acai Bowl; New York New York

Feeling stir-crazy?

I have a tasty remedy to combat that. I usually am West-Central Florida based, but because of COVID-19, I have returned home to New York. Following strict guidelines by the governor to stay indoors and with many restaurants temporarily closed, I thought it would be fun to share an easy recipe to make your own organic acai bowls from home. This quick and easy recipe ensures your safety to stay indoors while still allowing you to enjoy your favorite healthy treat. Creating your own allows you to show off your unique flare.

First, gather your favorite organic ingredients. Now you just realized you don’t have acai, right? I have got you covered. As going to the grocery is still a necessity, add this key ingredient to your grocery list. Find your local Target, which is providing a safe shopping experience for all your essentials. Target is following a strict and healthy safety plan to ensure your safety. I went to Target to get groceries the other day and I was greeted by friendly employees sanitizing the carts and the shelves. In the freezer section of Target, they carry acai superfruit packs by “Sambazon.” The bundle has four organic single-serve pouches ready to blend and create. Target carry’s a variety of different options of frozen fruit, which also serves as an excellent layer for your acai bowls.

The great thing about making them at home is it’s all about you and whatever you desire. I personally love a layered bowl, so I found Dragon Fruit chunks made by “Good & Gather” to spruce up my bowls color and flavor sensation. While you are still shopping around, pick up any of your favorite toppings to create your personalized bowl. Sticking with your healthy habits, adding a little organic granola will add a delicious crunch. “Good & Gather” makes a variety of different natural wholegrain granolas, as well as other organic products. I personally like to add an assortment of nuts, drizzles and seeds to complement the colors and variations in my acai bowl. Incorporating all-natural products will give you a subtle earthy flavor. I am a big peanut butter/almond butter lover, so I usually enhance my colorful bowl with a dark chocolate creamy almond butter and savory peanut butter. Look inside your pantry’s and see what you have to add. Essentially anything you crave can be incorporated into your delectable bowls. Target carry’s all the essentials for a one-stop-shop.

The final step is to create your colorful masterpiece. Grab out your blender and make your layer of acai. Incorporate a banana or fruit of choice to give the base a thicker consistency. Since this bowl is all about personalization, you could complement the acai with another layer, blend that up and add it on top of the first. The thick consistency will allow for the layers to lay on top of one, another creating an ombré effect. Dragon fruit adds a visually pleasing hot pink flare on top of the refreshing silk-like purple acai. Find an aesthetically pleasing bowl to serve your superfruit mixture. Now is where the fun part begins. Add all of your favorite toppings like smooth honey and fresh fruits to give your bowl a rich diversity. If you are into coconut, shredded coconut with almond butter is a great addition to this fruity mix. To increase your fiber intake, add a variety of fruits, grains and seeds. For all of you, chocolate lovers out there, complement your nuts and berries with some dark/milk chocolate chips to satisfy your sweet tooth. A great substitute for chocolate chips is chocolate almond butter for a nutritional balance. Those are just a few healthy habit suggestions; the sky is the limit and creativity is key. Eating healthy can be easy when it tastes this good!
